Active summer holidays in the Brandnertal valley

Discover hiking, biking and climbing in the beautiful mountain scenery around Bürserberg in Vorarlberg, Austria.

Biking adventures

If you would like to explore the area by bike, you will find ideal conditions here, with around 110 kilometres of clearly signposted routes. There is something for everyone, from relaxed mountain bike and e-bike tours through idyllic valleys to action-packed descents in the Brandnertal Bike Park. The park has 30 kilometres of trails of varying difficulty, including easy flow trails, freeride, downhill, singletrack and enduro routes. The Loischkopfbahn cable car, which also transports bikes, provides a convenient way up, while a dedicated practice area for children gives young riders the perfect introduction.

Hiking bliss

The Brandnertal valley offers a wide range of hikes for all abilities. Particularly popular are the panoramic walks to the viewpoints at Schesatobel and Loischkopf, as well as the gentle circular route from the centre of Bürserberg through the Zugs area. More challenging mountain tours lead up to the scenic Mondspitze (1,966 m) or across rocky terrain to the striking Schillerkopf (2,006 m). A variety of themed trails and excursions to the picturesque Lünersee lake also offer wonderful insight into the mountain world of the Rätikon.

Reaching new heights

Whether you prefer a fun challenge at the climbing park in Brand with its various courses, or more demanding routes on rock and cliff faces at the Bürser Schlucht climbing garden or the Saulakopf via ferrata, the Brandnertal valley offers plenty of opportunities for families and climbing enthusiasts to enjoy their sport in an impressive mountain setting. Even when the weather is less favourable, you can still climb at the Klimmerei bouldering hall in Bürs, where beginners and experienced climbers alike can train.

Dive in and unwind

On warm summer days, the Alvierbad natural swimming lake in Brand offers a refreshing escape in a beautiful mountain setting. With its biologically filtered spring water, two children’s pools and small playground, it is a popular destination for families. A bistro with a takeaway service completes the experience. Early-rising adults can enjoy exclusive use of the lake free of charge from 6:00 to 9:00 am, or start the day with a morning yoga session.

Fairways in the mountains

Set at around 1,000 metres above sea level, the 18-hole golf course in Brand features terraced fairways and beautiful views of the surrounding mountains. Introductory lessons are also available for beginners, making it an attractive choice for anyone interested in discovering golf for the first time. The stylish clubhouse is the perfect place to take a break or relax at the end of your round. The nearby Bludenz-Braz and Montafon golf clubs also offer attractive options.

Discover local culture

The area around Bürserberg also has plenty to offer culturally. The local heritage museum at the over 300-year-old Paarhof Buacher farmhouse offers insight into the valley’s past way of life and traditions. The prehistoric calendar site on the Tschengla plateau, with its Neolithic stone circles, bears witness to times long past and gives the area a distinctly mystical atmosphere.
Those wishing to delve deeper into the region’s history can follow the two-hour “Traces of History” cultural trail, which leads to several historic sites.
