Winter holidays in Bürserberg in the Brandnertal valley

Discover both the active and the quieter side of winter in the mountains of Vorarlberg, with activities including skiing, cross-country skiing, winter hiking and tobogganing.

Hit the slopes!

The Brandnertal ski area offers around 64 kilometres of varied, sunny slopes suitable for all abilities. Families and leisure skiers in particular appreciate the clearly laid-out runs and relaxed atmosphere. A snow and fun park, as well as a race track, provide even more variety. Professional ski schools support beginners with their first turns and also help more advanced skiers to improve their technique and confidence.
For even more choice, other attractive winter sports areas, such as Montafon and Sonnenkopf, are also within easy reach.

Cross-country bliss

The region around Bürserberg boasts well-maintained cross-country trails set against a peaceful winter landscape. The Olympia trail on the Tschengla plateau leads through the snow-covered mountains and is suitable for both classic cross-country skiing and skating. In Bürs, there is also a flat, double-track circular trail measuring around 3.5 kilometres, which offers ideal conditions for relaxed outings surrounded by wintry nature.

Step by step

Away from the ski slopes, the Brandnertal valley reveals its quieter side. From the Tschengla plateau above Bürserberg, numerous winter hiking trails wind their way through the snow-covered mountain landscape. The three- to four-hour routes along the Burtschaweg up to the Burtschasattel, as well as the Furkla high-altitude trail with views of the Schesaplana and Zimba mountains, are particularly rewarding. Those looking for a gentler option can choose the shorter circular walk along the Kohlgrubweg.

Tobogganing fun

When the snow is crisp underfoot and the tracks are well prepared, tobogganing in the Brandnertal valley is a real winter treat. The Löcher natural toboggan run, which starts at the Einhornbahn 1 top station on the Tschengla plateau and ends in the centre of Bürserberg, is particularly popular. The Eggen toboggan run in Brand is easily accessible via the Dorfbahn cable car and offers night tobogganing once a week. Those who would like to combine their outing with some exercise can reach the Schattenlagant toboggan run in Brand after a two-hour winter hike.

Magical moments

One of the most memorable ways to experience winter is to travel by dog sled or horse-drawn carriage. On a tour with Husky Toni, you can get up close to the animals as they power through the snowy landscape. Alternatively, you can enjoy a more leisurely horse-drawn carriage ride through the peaceful surroundings of Bürserberg and take in the beautiful views of the winter mountains.
